Nailing vs. Bio-Diesel..!!!

A few weeks ago I went over to Maryland, filled up with Commercial, 100% Soy, B 99.9......the car took 18.1 Gallons so I figure that the final blend was close to B 90.......

I have also recently overhauled the suspension of my 300D, so I decided to work the car a bit......ran around 80 to 84 mph for a couple of hundred miles. Also noted that I had to really put the pedal to the metal in an attempt to maintain speed on those long grades on I 68 (7% for 13 miles).

Car ran very well, obviously there was a minimal performance drop with the B 90...but the car appeared to run a bit cooler, as well.....

But....most amazingly.....my ignition knock (nailing) has vanished......I have done everything short of changing pre-chamber with little success in ending the knock......began to live with it.....and now, Poof.....it's gone....

I have no actual proof that the B 90 actually had an effect on the issue....

I can only think that perhaps the use of B 90+ has managed to clean up some lingering carbon deposits.......

Just thought that someone would be interested in this....

No, its because vegetable oil burns slower. Retarding the injection timing would have given you the same results.

The fuel didn't change anything, it masked your problem(s).

Forgot to mention, or note....
 

I did say a couple of weeks ago......am on my second tank of ULSD, one Exxon, and one Sunoco......

Still no nailing......and I agree that the timing could be adjusted......or maybe even the stepped camshaft key could be in order.......but I am very happy with the performance / response / fuel mileage of the 617.952 as it is, and hesitate to change anything related to timing........
