One more Window lifter question.

1983 300SD. Drivers window.
I have searched and found out how to remove the window, actuator and the motor, but my question is this. My window motor works, the gear behind it spins, the actuator arm with the white plastic slide is fine. However the teeth on the actuator arm seems to have jumped or something else is amiss. I might add that there is a nut that is loose on the back of the motor in front of the gear (in retrospect, this nut feels like it is 4 sided cam type nut, and maybe that it held the actuator arm with a nut either embedded in the arm or held with another nut??? None were found in the door floor though). I read of a worm gear in the assy. Where would that be. Any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.
I might add that there was NO noise or thump when I lowered the window. It just would not go up. I'll attempt to pull it all apart tomorrow morning.

SHEESH! one day it's the ALDA, then next the window quits.
What fun Freesil is!

Thanks.

Forgive me if this is obvious or if you've already ruled it out but are you sure the motor is getting power when you press the switch? Also it needs to have the right power (the motor's terminals need one side positive when going up; other side positive when going down).

I do not know how similar the SD is to the 300D. In my '85 300D, the driver's window failed because the arm the attaches to the window became separated from the gear that is part of the "transmission." The arm is attached to the gear with rivets that had sheared. I tried using repair rivets but they were too soft, lasting only a few weeks. I ended up replacing the mechanism, less the motor. Welding the arm to the gear has been done by some who have inexpensive access to that technology
