87 sdl while driving my hood opened and bent over the top. To my surprise it did not break the windshield, but it did bend the hinges and buckle the hood. I know how to replace the parts. Im concerned about the latch. It seemed to be working fine but did release without warning. Now I manually push latch to lock it, and sometimes it work. This is the one on the drivers side. The passenger side seems to work each time. Any advice on inspection and repair of the latch wikk be appreciated.

Yikes, was it closed all the way before it happened? Or was it just sitting on the safety catch?

I wonder why the safety latch didnt catch it



One reason I like the earlier 126's is becuase they have 2 hood latches and a safety latch. My friends 87 420sel only has a single latch like a 123

It was closed properly, and the safety did not hold. I was going about 45mph.

Left and Right latch and center catch all failed at same time?
