Jet Fuel

I realize this may be a long shot, but..........
A friend of mine (actually the guy I bought my 300CD from) works at a facility that refurbishes jet engines. He told me he wished he still had the car because he thought he could use the excess fuel they purge from the lines at the conclusion of the tests. This amounts to quite a few gallons each time they test. I have heard that jet fuel is very similar to diesel, but I don't know if it is really compatible. Any thoughts?

Jet Fuel

I have 1983 300D. I have been burning Jet Fuel for about the last 60,000 miles. I burn waste fuel without mixing it with any oil or additives. My car runs excellent and to this day, has not suffered any mechanical problems. There have been mention by some people that the injection pump will wear out but I have considering the money saved, I could care a less.

"Jet fuel" covers a broad range of fuels and can be very misleading. You must know what kind of jet fuel it is first!

These fuels are "OK": 1K & 2K Kerosene, Jet-A, Jet A-1, JP-5, and JP-8 IF 5% new lube oil is added to the fuel tank for lubrication.

NOT OK under any circumstances: Jet-B, JP-4, and Cite.

A neighbor runs JP5 and JP8 at times. Just for his piece of mind he drops in a little oil for lubrication.

There are additives made specifically for jet fuel (Jet A) used in diesel engines.
