trunk seal

Is there a special adhesive used to glue down the trunk seal?

3M makes weatherstrip adhesive that is supposed to be good.

Ditto. I have used this stuff for many different rubber-to-metal applications, and it always works well.

be sure and CLEAN THE HECK out of the channel the seal goes in. I used a 3M buffer wheel to get the old gunk out of there, they probably make a spray that removes the stuff. lay the seal out in the sun for a few hours to get it good and soft and stretchey. be sure you have it right side up (the lip goes on the inside...) I put the mold line on the bottom. the yellow 3M weatherstrip adhesive is what I have always used, put some on the seal, and put some all around the lip of the trunk, and just start at the top and don't stretch it much, it will leave extra on you.
3M also makes some black stuff... never used it, but it would match better.

Sure is sticky tenacious stuff ,even scraping was useless.
Anybody know of a spray or brush or dribble on product that would cut it and not dissolve paint. I used Goof Off and Goo Gone and they seem to soften it a bit, but even 3 applications did not work much.
The 3m buffer is it soft like dense fabric or a mild abrasive or what?
