Euro Bumpers!

I went down to the local U-Wrench-It, or whatever its called now, looking for some corner lamps for my Festiva and a sunroof motor for my 300SD.

While wandering aimlessly through the junkyard as I always do for about an hour or so before deciding to tinker with some car I don't even own I came across another 85' w126. This thing had the worst paint job I'd ever seen and it was clear alot of money had been spent on it. The green, brown and gold shimmering in the sun was what caught my attention. Then I noticed a clean rear end and realized this thing had the euro bumpers! I dropped my tools immediately and started removing the rear bumper. Surprisingly simple actually, just four bolts. Same for the front. I hadn't planned on spending 100 bucks that day (50 bucks each) so I called it quits after removing them, but what a find!

The front is a little bent up. Just in the middle, and there is a small ding on the back on the drivers side and a scuff on the passenger side on the back. As soon as I got home I put them on (after going back for them with my truck since they wouldn't fit in my car).

Let me know what ya'll think!

Congratulations on your find!
The Euros look soooooooo much better than the DOT mandated stuff. After all, the Euros are the original design. However as mentioned earlier, your car looked great before - nice color.

With the way people drive around here, I am glad to keep my US spec bumpers on.....euros mean less distance between the car and the person hitting you!

I was fixing to say they were overdone and a waste of $$$$ before I realized those were the "before" pics.
Those are a nice improvement on a W126. I still find myself liking the US spec bumpers on W123's, but I sure like the Euro W126 bumper better.
Now, about those front wheels.......

the Euro`s look good, great find. there is a set of 126 Euro bumpers at our local PNP. been there for about 2 months. It`s days are just about over there.

I also found some Euro bumpers on a 84 TD today, anybody looking for some? a very rust free body

I didn`t like the Euro look at first, but it kind of grows on me some now

Those before pictures look like post 86 bumpers. Or I could be half asleep and seeing things.

I like your grill, I just went out and looked at my 84SD and it had the old egg crate style. is the 85 different? or is that off a different model?

That's one of those "avantgarde" style grilles you can get on eBay.

Sorry everyone I should have specified the "before" and "after" pics.

I was going to say that they felt lighter, I know my rear end doesn't seem to sag as much as it did. I did notice a large I-beam going across my front and rear bumpers that the new ones don't even have. If I can get better mileage out of it that would be great!

I bought that grill off ebay actually, but the chrome surround it came with left much to be desired so I just fitted the insert into the stock surround with a new blue and white crest and hood ordiment.

And yes, I'm not making any excuses my car is filthy. I drove it up to KC from Louisiana at the beginning of the summer and have only washed it once since I've been here. And if I could get that brake dust to disappear on the front I would!
