How to Remove Chrome Drip Guard on 84 TD
I have seen these called a couple different things, rain gutters, drip guards, chrome things running from front windshield to the back window of my TD. I have rust on both sides near the back and would like to figure out how to remove them without breaking them so that I dont end up buying new ones. ANyone have suggestions or done it before?? Chad have you done this with your TD??

Nope ... I was afraid I'd booger them up. From what I've read, those are put on at the factory right after the car is painted and they are held on by the clamping pressure of the trim itself. I don't know if this is true since I didn't remove them myself.
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has removed it and replaced it successfully too. |
That's what I figured. I think Im going to have to remove them, perhaps I will try at the junkyard first and then give it a shot. ANyone else try removing them??

Here is a thread from the body section that discusses removing that and other items.

Thanks for the link, Ive seen that one before. I was actually looking to remove the chrome parts that go above the doors, rather than on the doors, he didnt remove them in the link.

I chipped the paint putting it back on. Maybe tape the painted edge first? |
