Stump this chump, 99 300td head removal

I'm trying to take the head off my 99 300TD. The cam cap bolts are a bit strange and I see no mention of what they are nor special tools.
These are 12 point heads that measure 10 mm across the points. I'm thinking a 9 mm 12 point socket may do the trick.
Anybody have any ideal what these are??

Yes, I guess I have a blown head gasket. No 1 cyl is low about 320 psi but leaks down quickly. The others are happy at 430 psi.

I'm gonna guess that you need the famous MB "tripple Square" wrench.
if there's an autozone or O'rileys nearby, they have a set of 3 or 4 for around 5.00
not the best quality, but they were sufficient to remove two heads off my 617's I have.

Don't you have a 12-point socket set? (most socket sets are)

The tool you need is called an XZN M10 Wrench, the M-B PN is 601 589 00 10 00 or you can buy a generic like this one:

No, it isn't the triple square socket. The OP is asking about CAM bearing bolts. These are ordinary 12 point metric bolts, the head is effectively a double hex. Ordinary 12 point metric sockets are all that's required.

Of course, the cylinder head bolts ARE triple square, but, the OP isn't at that stage yet!
