drive shaft balancer question
 
mine fell apart at a low speed with no damage, could i remove the balancer and run the car with out it.

By balancer I assume you mean any small welded on tab. All I would try is putting what you have back together if you cannot find any refference marks and try it.

If vibrations are evident you could try the two hose clamps approach to self balancing. Or grab a complete driveshaft assembly from a wreck.

sorry the model is 240d with 300d 5cyl swap. i got the car like this not shure if it is org 4 spd. or what. this thing is called a viberation elimnator it looks like a harmonic balancer. by the way any tips on getting the drive shaft out and replacing the center support and bearing. thanx in advance chris

It will work without it, but you will feel slightly more vibrations.

In my car we just swapped in the five speed from the autocrosser and had to switch driveshafts because of the length. It is without that device, whatever its called and it is fine but I do feel a bit more vibration.
