can a late 126 ACC PBU be resoldered?
I read BoostnBenz's instructions on resoldering an ACC PBU -
DIY page. Introduction to Resoldering Climate Control Unit My SDL's ACC and bulb out warning have been quirky so I thought I'd give resoldering a shot. I removed the lower cover of the PBU and saw a PCB with a bunch of solders. Is there a way to remove this board to get to the innards? Seems like the mode buttons and other things attached to the hidden side of the PCB won't let it come off. Any ideas? The light control relay is more straightforward. I thought I'd find something loose because sometimes the bulb out light comes on after a hard turn. It looks perfectly good but I wouldn't know a bad solder joint if it bit me. I plan to melt each solder joint and let it set. Is there anything else I should do while I have these things out and apart? Thanks, Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

I didn't go deep...
But I just resoldered two units a 123 and a 126 and I just tried both of them today in my 81 and they seemed to work perfectly. One wouldn't run the footwell heat and the other wouldn't run the ac compressor.
I just went through adn touched up all the solder points. The worst I think ar ethe ones down each side where bosstnbenz has highlighted in his photos. I found at least two joints there that were bad so I know I musta helped something...

That's just it - the 86-up PBU innards are different. The thumbwheel isn't in a separate box and it has a ribbon cable connecting to the main board.

How are bulbs in late model CCU replaced? Seem no needle nose pliers can reach it. Thanks

Heat-shrink tubing, rubber line, either will grip the bulb and pull it out.
