Brake Caliper Question

Anyone ever used a reman caliper from Advance or Autozone? Just wondering how they have help up? They are ATE or Bendix cores. I have been thinking about using them when the need arises especially since they are lifetime wty. Seems like you can't lose. Calipers aren't that difficult to replace anyway.

Well your experience may differ but it took me 2 months to get the right caliper. Every time the caliper would come in something would be wroung with it.

I used reman calipers all around from Cardone who supplies Advance and AutoZone with almost all of their reman calipers (just reboxed). I used ATE and they had no problems at all and are holding up great.

I am not trying to talk you out of it, but don't be surprised if you strike out a couple of times with the cheaper lines of reman calipers.

Bought mine at O'Reillys here about 5 or 6 years ago and they are looking and working fine. They were ATE, just like what was on the car to start with. Actually have never seen a set of the other brand, Bendix, on any of the six or eight 115's and 123's we have owned.

Your job looks great! I posted a question for you in that thread. I might try it someday.

Thanks! I wish they were still as clean as in those pics.

Any w126 up to and including 1985 is first generation. 1986 and up is second generation.

I ordered calipers for a 1985 300SD for my upgrade. I used ATE calipers and ATE rotors.

I wouldn't be worried about autozone remans. All they do is hone them, reseal them and put a dust boot on

if there is a question about the quality of ATE or Bendix, i believe both are original equipment, my brake calipers have ATE stamped on them...

it might be fun to yank a couple pair at a yard and rebuild them yourself

I just ordered a pair of bendix for my W126 from Shucks. $63 each. I hope they work out OK. To those that have had problems with them, what should I be on the look out for?
