190D pump timing

Greetings!
While not new to Benz diesels, I am new to the 190D. I've had tons of the venerable 3.0l diesels apart and timing them is a snap using the old method of removing the plunger from #1, and moving pump just till it drips. I recently bought a 190D that broke the upper guide rail and jumped pump time only. Cam/crank stayed in time *thank u lord!* Is there a fast easy way to adjust timing on this engine as well, or do I need to go get a device to time it. What I've done so far is mark the location of the pump on the engine, and brought the engine up 24 degrees btdc as in the old ones, and put the pump with the timing marks lined up back on the engine. Any help is appreciated.

Rick

I was unable to copy the specific details of timing 1987 300D from my Mitchell Manual. But they have using the timing pin on the IP for the initial installation of the IP.
Using the High Pressure Drip method for begin of injection (the one you are good at).
Using the RIV method; that requires a special device.
Begin injection timed at BTDC 24-26 degrees; the RIV metohod has its own special degrees.

What I have done, is mark the pump and the engine as to re-align it exactly as it came off. Assuming that once I retime the engine for 24 degrees btc, then put the pump back on, I should be in the ball park. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
