Was there such a monster? A Turbo 617 long wheel base 116 way back in 79?

This is why its always important to have 10 grand squirreled away just in case something like this comes along!

Craigslist text says 1979, but the photos are named 1978..

It's not a w123 its a w116, but I never knew of an SD"L".

Oops.. thats what you get from a 126 owner...

Look at the "SDL" in the photo. The L was chopped off of something else and them placed next to the 300 SD badge.

They are a plenty in Northern California. I do not know about the rest of the state, but I did live in Santa Rosa for about a year.

The car also has a CA plate on the rear. The trees and the earthen berm in the background remind me of the town/city of Hercules. The make/made dynamite there and have a lot of blast berms and eucalyptus trees around the facilities to soften the blow should an accident occur.

That's exactly what it is. Henry removed the gas engine from an SEL and transplanted a 617 into it. He's looking for top dollar for it............so far it's escaped him.

Its been for sale for a while, I've seen different listings and the thread sixto linked when current.

Great looking 116, nice combo, (chop job on the L). . .

too bad there isnt much of a W116 market. . . I'd drive it daily if it were mine. . .I reckon he's never gonna get what he's got in it. . .
