Can't open hood

So, I am complete moron and when I took off my grille to paint, I didnt put the latch back into it...now I can't get my hood open.

Am I screwed / will I need to break my nice newly painted grille?

I tried getting in there with my hand and a hanger, but the thing need to be pulled out, not down

Gahhh....

if you have another car with same body nearby that you can look at with the hood up you can usually figure out just what needs to be done to open yours without damaging anything. My $.02 Don

Thanks guys,

I'll try the needle nose pliers. I figure the worst case scenario will be that I saw out a hole and then super glue it back in place once the latch is where it should be

Try a piece of wire coat hanger too. Anything to grab and pull the lever part forward.

I got it! I just had to rig the hanger around the other part of the latch, luckily it opened because it wasn't on there very well.

Thanks for the help!
