Fender off of a 123 wagon will fit a 123 sedan, right?

Hello,

I was just getting ready to paint a fender I pulled off of a 123 wagon to put on my 240D. The two fenders measure the same length, but I just wanted to check here first before I wasted some paint. Thanks,

Otto

Yep, fit right on. I see you're in Alameda, I'll be out there on business the 10th to the 17th of August.

Yes, there the same size but I believe the later models(post 83) used thinner gauge steel than the early models(pre-1983). It will not make any diference what so ever, everything will still line up and fit just the same, I just thought I would let you know.

Good to see that I guessed right. I took this fender off of a '80 wagon, so I was able to practice the removal process which includes a torch, exacto knife, pry bar and a lot of swear words.
ImBroke, The 10th & 17th are Sundays. If I'm not gigging, I'll be home after 3:00. My neighbor has 2 MB wagons, a '79 300SD and a biodiesel processor. Send me a PM the day before you arrive if you'd like to hang out.

Otto, cool. We get there the afternoon on the 10th, work all week and fly out the 17th. I think on the 16th we are going to try to hit up the Redwood Park. Never seen a redwood tree. I'll shoot you a PM when we get there.

ImBroke,
Sounds like a plan. You'll love it out here

Bajaman,

If you would have seen this wagon that I picked over you would have cried. Some hippies ran it so hard into the ground that they resorted to writing "SPRAY HERE" with a sharpie pen at the opening of the air cleaner intake hose.
There wasn't much left to pick off of the wagon, and I went with the fender since it will be easy to sand. The clear coat and paint have almost completely faded off.

The fender on the 79 will need to have some heat treatment to remove it, as it has no inner fender, but PVC underfloor treatment that requires a heat gun or something that'll get up to at least 600 Celsius to melt. W123s manufactured from the end of November 1981 to the end of production have plastic inner fenders in place of the PVC.

Uh, 600 degrees celsius equals 1112 degress. You'll need a real good torch to get that hot.

I'm sure the front bumpers are interchangeable, but the the rear bumper from a wagon may or may not fit but and you'll have the cut outs for the reverse lights.
