Any conversion done to the AC was done before I got the car. I just looked, it has a blue connection on top of the engine (L-24) and the red connection is on passerger side lower section, below the turbo and marked (H-26). From way way back in memory, these look like the connector used when I had a 91 ford ranger converted from freon to R-134a, and I had no trouble with it for many many years.

With that many compressor changes, I would think that you might have shrapnel lodged in your condensor. If so then a replacement condensor is needed. Also as stated before, make sure they remove expansion valve and dryer to clean out the lines. Then I suggest you'll have to replace them with new units (especially the dryer) just in case debris in lodged in them.

You may be right Deliveryvalve. With the problems I have been having, it could very well be worth the cost to let them clean/replace any part that has not already been cleaned/replaced. Don't know what it will cost, but probably less than the time and effort expended so far. At the very least, it is worth calling them about. Thanks, and thanks also to everyone that offered an opinion. I appreciate it.
