77 240d what do you think?
A guy down the road has had this 240d 4spd with 106k on the clock; which is not known to be functioning or not; sitting in his yard for a year; this is his story.
He traded an older Dodge gasser pickup that he said was into him for $1200, for this MB. 1st gear is gone but it was driven to his house by the PO and then was "stalled out" to shut it off . Hmmm! He then bought a used 4 spd of unknown age for $200 and stuck it in the trunk. It has sat since! He is asking $500 New England car with incipient rust but that is not my thought. How much is compatible with my 82 240d. It is a w123 chassis and the motor looks the same though mine has more components attached to it. Heater controls, IP, alt, starter, PS pump are these interchangeable. Crank windows, no radio ever installed , similar looking heater controls. I don't want to restore it but if some motor, driveline and control parts are useable what is it worth?

Samo, samo except for some minor things, GP system, good parts car, sounds to me like.

My sig car has an auto trans; will a 4 speed conversion with the spare trans from the 77 work?
