Is there a trailer hitch made for a 1993 300D 2.5 turbo?

Hello,

I have a 1993 300D 2.5 turbo sedan and I'd like to tow a load of about 1200 lbs. Is there a trailer hitch that is available for this car? Thanks in advance.

but this one

Funny you say this. I just installed one on my 93 300D last week. Get this one, the fit and finish is phenominal, and it hidden quite nicely...

http://www.trailerhitches.com/trailer-hitches/curt11816class1hitch.cfm

its a little different than whats in the pic. You only see about 12 inches of the bar i would say, basically only the receiver is what you see, and fits nicely in the factory cutout in the rear facia.

Took me about an hour to install.

I bought a Curt hitch for '95 wagon from JC Whitney. JC sells a hitch for your 300D. I checked around before buying and JC had the best price by far.

Mine is also a Curt. Be sure to get a powered invertor trailer wiring harness, because of the exterior lamp failure indicator on these cars.

Don't they have non-standard (metric) ball sizes? Also, where can you buy one?

You mean 1.98" vs 2"? Your trailer won't notice the difference. Start with the dealer and see what they say. The link above may have some useful info as well.

Good luck. I tried the dealer. They only carry them for the ML series. The Curt is very OEM like, you wont be disappointed. Ive attached a pic of mine...

Try this...

http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-1993_Mercedes-Benz_300E.htm

It's listed as "300E" but I got one and it works on my D.

Fast shipping at this place, too.

Fair enough! If I ever come across a used one I'll have to grab it.

Looks almost exactly like the aftermarket ones, but the aftermarket ones have a receiver, which has some benefits of its own (bike racks). Although even with shipping that one might come out cheaper... the dollar sure doesn't help much though.
