Fuel leak from pump 79 300td
 

My brother just bought a 79 300TD. He has a minor problem with a fuel leak. On top of the injection pump the (delivery valves?) # 2 is dripping fuel from the injector pump.

After some research I can only find info about the newer pumps leaking and not this style. How do I fix this?

Any help would be appreciated thanks

it could be as simple as a loose nut. or a cracked nut. start the car and look carefully where the fuel is leaking and figure out where it's coming from. if it is coming from the delivery valves, it means somebody F'd it up. take some pics if you can and post them to photobucket.com and link the img link here.

I have 2 spares if you want one... entire car too...

The leaking is coming from where the body screws into the injector pump, it seems like it is bubbling up, the is a drip about every 5 seconds.

Here is a picture. The red arrow pointing to the circle is where it is leaking. Is ther no o-rings or any way to fix it? What is the torque spec for that? Thanks

Its a delivery valve seal. IIRC you DO NOT remove the two 13 or 14mm nuts and plate, rather teh center potion (pressure valve holder) the fuel line attaches to only. From there you follow the procedures outlined for the later models minus the oring.

Invest in TWO cans of brake cleaner first and clean everything off REALLY well; dont remove anything other than the pressure valve holder, and the spring and crush washer. Leave valve elements and collars alone.

Others more familar with your DV's will chime in with more advice.

Use a good quality Torque Wrench.
When you get the Pressure/Delivery Valve Holder out take a good look at the threaded area for hairline cracks.

Does anyone know the torque spec?
