Mb "RA"

To answer jt20's question...the only thing you'll be asked for onsite is your
Mercedes VIN number and a signature.

It might be worth noting that MB Roadside Assistance and the "Sign & Drive" program are not exactly the same thing. The free "Sign & Drive" program is limited to only three specific and and narrowly defined services: jump start, fuel, and changing a flat tire with your spare. Anything else will reduce the thickness of your wallet.

And there have been reports about difficulties in obtaining diesel fuel, especially when contract service providers were involved.

When I called them it was a friendly MB tech from Cincinnati MB....he came in a spiffy ML320 I can remember my wife saying "isn't that going to drain his battery leaving all that on?" (His GPS screen, headlights, interior lights etc...) So I said "the engine is running"....she goes "it is?! wow!" V6 gasser was a little quieter (as in, dead silent) than a 617....

Mercedes does not provide these services for free anywhere else on the Planet.

At the same time, having the telephone # of a skilled, reliable Rollback Operator can be a good thing.

Triple A is only as good as the contractor they use in the local area.
Sometimes Excellent...Sometimes a Nightmare. AND No Way to tell until
the truck drives up to you.(sometimes not even then,if you don't know what to look for)
They'll tow for free as well...as long as its to a MB dealer and they do the repair.

By "free fuel" do you mean...."cheating a company out of money and fuel that is offered as a helpful service in emergencies"? Thats what it sounds like...

Also, they only give you like 1-3 gallons, enough to get to a fuel station. Duh.

My only experience with the roadside assistance was a rescue call for our E320/97, with the car locked in our driveway the remote stopped working and none of the 4 doors have a key hole, go figure.
The roadside assistance showed up within an hour and showed us how to open the doors (place the key in the trunk lock and turn), no charge for that.

Worked for us. My wife called me at work last week to tell me she thinks the battery is dead in our 99 E300. I asked her if it had shown any signs that it was getting weak. Her reply no, but I did leave the headlights on and now the key will not turn. I had her call mercedes and they sent out help and jumped the battery for free.

Last summer I needed my stupid sign. My low fuel light comes on in Brookfield, WI. I am like, "I can make it to the Flying J in Oak Creek"

One exit before is where I ran out of Diesel. I coasted up the exit ramp, lucked out with a green light and turned a quick right at the next street and coasted to a stop. The car went about 1.3 miles after the engine stalled.
30 minutes later, International Auto brought me two gallons of Diesel.

When i called the 1800 number, they asked for my Vin number, once I read it to them they said "Our computer shows you need Diesel fuel, is that correct?"

I was obviously very happy with the service, even if i felt like an idiot.

Is it true that you have to be registered with Mercedes in order to use the service?

You don't have to register, if you drive a Mercedes you are already register with them
It doesn't matter as well how old or new is your car, they will help you out, no questions asked.

Fabulous
