Tranny park slippage

Hey everyone, My '80 240D was missing the grommets on the transmission linkage (automatic :() so I replaced those, lined everything up so it shifts flawlessly, but I am a bit concerned about how it will roll a good half a foot before park will catch it. I know that my mothers '05 Honda Pilot does it too, but it just doesn't feel right in the benz, it practically freewheels and then all of a sudden catches. I also have a pretty steep driveway, although I keep it in the garage when im not working on it. So would this be a problem, or a sign of things to come with my tranny? or is it just me?

I'd say as long as it does catch and hold, its fine. Mine rolls alittle too, I don't know if Id say 1/2 foot though.

Mine rolls a little on steep inclibes, too. Now, I just set the parking brake before releasing the foot brake and no more problem.

yeah it holds fine I just get a little worried about being on my driveway while im under it  not like it will drift at all it holds strong i just want to make sure that it won't eventually not grab and then fly across the street :D i'll have to try holding the brake more when i put it into park, i don't think it'll make a difference but it could do it. thanks guys.
