Car won't shut off!
OK so today I cleaned that banjo bolt on the back of the intake and took the car for a spin to see if it helped. It didn't. I tried a 0-60 run but I gave up when I got to 20 and was going 40. Anyway on the way home I noticed it shifting really hard and when I parked it and turned off the key, it kept on idling. I reinserted the key, turned it forward and back several times, still running. I popped the hood and started looking for something to unplug to make it stop.
I noticed the word "Stop" emblazened on a red lever on the engine. I pushed it and it stopped to my relief. What in the world is wrong with my car? I've never seen a "stop" button put on a car. Thanks in advance, Chet |

Vacuum leak, this alos explain why your tranny was shifting hard.
The stop button is there because a diesel will continue to run even without power, so thats that only what to shut it off.

You inadvertently disconnected a vacuum line when you were working on the car. Look where you worked, probably in the general vicinity of the oil filter housing, for a hard plastic line pulled out of a rubber fitting.
