Exp. valve says 134a, can I use it w/R12?
I got my new expansion valve and finally got the old one out. The new one is labeled "R134a" Can I use it?
I'm sticking with R12, and the valve appears identical except for the thermal thing (forgive the ignorance here) on the side. If there is any difference, I'm guessing that the "R134a" valve regulates to a different pressure/temperature. So do I need a R12 exp. valve?

I have r12 and a r-134a expansion valve. It's an updated part that works with both refrigerants, the drier is the same way, r134a/r12.

At the low end of the scale, r134a and r12 are not very far apart. They differ much more as the temperature and pressure rise.
That valve will be fine. |
