Surviving the Storm

I know there's a good handful of you in Florida weathering Faye as I did. How are our benzes holding up? Any other flood survival stories?

I had to move the 300D out from the backyard (too many old trees), and it's parked in an alleyway between two houses for most of the storm. Keeping it in a garage wasn't possible right now of course. Fortunately, flooding hasn't been much of an issue in my area of Deltona. I don't expect there will be any other problems, but I'm going over to check tomorrow.

Now my 98 Buick Regal on the other hand...
The horizontal rain seems to have made it's way in. I had to leave for work on Thursday morning, a couple days into the storm, and found about 2 inches of standing water down by the front of the passenger side. I vacuumed it all up and it seems to be coming in from the front. Smells moldy already.

still raining here in N florida. Yesterday on the news they were showing some pics where trees had fallen on cars, one pic showed a huge oak tree laying on a 240D.

My 280CE has been in the garage, it didn't see a drop of rain.

Down here in Islamorada I parked SDL out from under trees next to building came through storm fine, not about to drive it through puddles like I did with Rabbit that already had drains holes rusted in.

Benz was parked in neighbors yard and the water came up to just touching the rim of the wheels,Jetta was in our front yard and the water came up to just touching the bottom of the rocker panel on the drivers side and not quite that high on the pass side.We are in Glades county where there has been alot of serious flooding, but lucky for us not in our neighborhood. When is this mess going to go away? Been pumping the small boat out a couple of times a day, finally took the O/B off just in case it fills up and sinks! Don

The black one looks like one of the rare 1953-1961 W186 MBs, the precursor the the W100 600 Pullman.

I just wonder why someone would keep those rare MBs parked outside on the street when inclimate weather is on the way? Houston is a flood prone city, and if Allison taught us anything, it taught us that tropical storms can cause just as much havoc as a hurricane. I put my 300D up in a parking garage if a strong trop storm or hurricane is headed our way. Not because it's rare, but because I don't need any hassle caused from potential damage.

Why in the world would you leave a nice MB like that on the side of the street in a storm? I have garage space on very high ground reserved for the SDL when a hurricane heads for us. If the storm is going to be bad enough its going 6 hours north with me to my uncles house in VT.

Glad you guys made out, it sounds like it was mostly rain with a bit of wind.

Wow, that's terrible...

I went by to check on my 300D today and it was just fine as I expected.
There was a very slight dampness on the floor right by the inside of the driver's door, but this wasn't much of a surprise. I need to replace the seal.
