Need an injector pump for 92 300D

mine has taken a dump. Apparently 2 injectors are not getting hardly any fuel at all. Anyone got one of these laying around that works?

Tried running Diesel Purge though it or tapping on the side of the pump block?

Check car-part.com. I saw a '92 300D pump listed for $300:

1992
Fuel Injector Pump
Mercedes 300 D CD/TD -92 C 8H9210 $300 Martin's Import Salvage USA-NC(Wendell) Request_Quote 1-800-569-9711 Request_Insurance_Quote
2249

I've got an extra '91 pump that I'm unsure of, but am not sure it's the same part.

We had another member recently who overtightened the DV valve pressure holder and pinched an oring resulting in insufficient fuel to pop inj #1.......disassembly, discovery and a new oring resolved that issue.

Terry, you might be thinking of me... I did have no fuel in #1 and did change the o-rings but it ended up being a dumb error. When I re-installed the IP after changing the seals and o-rings, I had the banjo fuel lines from the IP to the fuel filter swapped at the fuel filter so the IP was not getting fuel like it should. Dumb mistake. I switched the lines to the proper position and I again had fuel on #1 where it was not getting primed before (air in the fuel gallery).

Anyways, I have had a problem with a 'mechanic' overtorquing delivery valves before. My first MB's engine IP (actually a 602 engine like the original poster has) was ruined by some not careful changing the o-rings. He obviously didn't read the torque spec in the manual. I got it back running on 4 cyls and ended up having to sell the car. Major bummer! So... when I resealed my current engine's IP (OM603) I removed the IP and did all the seals myself. I followed the direction and it worked great.

To the OP, have you tried re-torquing those delivery valves? I'm betting your mechanic messed something up. Injection Pumps are not something to play around with. Not cheap and very delicate if not properly taken care of. I'd start by re torquing (22, loosen, 22, loosen, then 26 ft.lbs). Then crack the injector line nuts (14mm) just slightly loose (loose enough to spurt fuel out) at the injectors and have someone crank the engine while you watch. You should see an approximately even amount of fuel squirting out all 5 injector lines. I would not put your faith in the 'mechanic'. Most mechanics I've dealt with are clueless, especially to Diesel, and even more so to MB Diesel. The few sharp ones are few and far between and are usually expensive. For example, one 'mechanic' recently tried to sell me Seafoam to clean my injectors. I asked him how to best use it. He said to unplug the line going to the alda (from the intake manifold) and dip that line in the can of Seafoam..... I hear stuff like this all the time... So many of them are clueless. Notice I didn't say all of them. The sharp mechanics are some of the most valuable people we have. We have quite a few on this forum and GREAT smart fellas. But it seems that in real life, (at least the ones I've seen here in Missouri) I wouldn't let them touch my car with a 10' pole. And the bad part is they'll charge to break your car! The IP is probably the worst part to have an un-educated person working on. I didn't know this 3-4 years ago on my first MB diesel. But I learned QUICKLY!

777Funk - My post was in reference to a 606.962 owner who provided the outcome privately but did not post it publically. He had some fuel leaks and disregarded fixing them first and instead elected to rebuild the head only to find afterward the orig problem (no fire at cly #1) remained. Ignoring leaks on a 606 and "fixing" other things first is a cardinal sin.....

All 60x DV's are the same so I felt it might be applicable.

As you said, pumps just don't go bad that often.......they usually outlive the engine.

That's a bummer! I'm sure the head rebuild wasn't cheap!

I hope to someday own a 606 turbo. I'd like to put one in a w210 or 124 wagon.

Seems like a great engine other than the fuel issues and K40 Relay. But those are small problems.

The guy was preparing to do rings next....finally listened to reason and went back to step one which was a minor leak and fuel supply which resolved the prob.

Man... some people have money to throw I guess. I'd bet he'd do more harm than good having the rings done.

What ever happened to performing tests before performing surgery!

The mechanic I use is very knowledgeable. He runs a shop where he specializes in European imports and has been in business for quite a number of years. I agree there are more wanna be mechanics than real ones, but I believe he is good. He has already changed all the o-rings and checked the nozzles. The other mechanic I use was actually a MB certified mechanic specializing in diesels before he went out on his own. They are the only 2 i trust my car to. That is, unless anyone on this board moves to wv.
