If you floor my friends S600 at 110 it down shifts.

I was cranking along, all happy that my old diesel was in the triple digit range. Here comes the M120, loafing as my 603 was giving all its worth. Like an F22 passing a DC3.
A newer one with the 7spd trans would prob grab 2 gears at 110mph.

Don't they still use the 722.6? I hate the 7spd. Way to many gears for anything but a gutless 4 banger.

In the CLK550 I was driving, I would start it off in 3rd. To avoid annoying upshifts from stop light to stop light.

Hattie - Because the s600 isnt a diesel I really couldn't say. Just assumed it was currently a 7spd.

AFAIK still 5 because the 7 would explode if the bi turbo 12 feed into it.

My friends has the "slow" 400hp na V12. The bi turbo puts down quite a bit more, more so after Renntech or Brabus warm it up. Heck chipped its good for about 600.

I ran 105 in the SDL. It's amazing how smooth the ride is at speed.

I hit the pin at 85 on my 83' 240d 4-speed I imagine I was going about 90, downhill of course, I might have been able to go faster, but at that speed and with a quarter of a million miles, I was afraid pistons were gonna start flying through the hood or something. It sounds like a rocket at those speeds.

Cool Fun thread......

Between 110 and 115 mph.....I've just called it 112.......

Right after I rebuilt the suspension on the 300D, I had it alligned at the MB dealership, took it for a new pair of front tires at Goodyear.....new shoes on front....all 4 freshly balanced......

Ran her up on my way home on US 50.....4 lane concrete road.....not real straight and sometimes there is wildlife....so I didn't get a really close look at the speedo.......the car ran like it was on rails......and smooooootth..!!

Two years ago or a little more, we were heading towards the Arizona boarder some where on Hwy 58. It`s all desert rocky desolate out there, kind of looks like the the pictures I`ve seen of the Mars lander.

the engine was running a little rough, seemed the more I tweeked things the more it stayed the same. so we were already cruising along about 70, so I just kept adding a few more numbers to it and next thing I knew were clicking along at 100 mph. didn`t notice the rpm`s.
so decided time to back off before I was talking to some stranger with the red light.

engine ran real smooth, no vibration. but still had the roughness after we got back to normal speeds.

usually keep the rpm`s around 3000 or so, I think 70 is 3500 on the 85.

Once (And only once) I brought the old 3.5 up to 125 mph, I was surprised because it got their fairly quickly (I remember 75 to 100 sprints were nothing) I haven't tried with the 3.0 yet though, The last time I did the rubber dust cover on the driveshaft came loose. Scarred the crap out of me cause I didn't know what was making the noise from under the car, and every dealer I went to in the area was being a dick by not letting me put it up on a lift just to see what it was. Once I get this bearing/steering wheel shake fixed i'll for another round.

I've driven the S600 Bi-Turbo

1. Definitely "Only" has the 5 speed. I don't understand why its criticized. Just because it isn't the 7 speed, somehow its a bad transmission?

2. That thing gets from 0-120 before anyone here can do 75-120.

I haven't tried to peg my wagon, but I've had it up around 95 a few times and it felt like it would go faster easily.
