How do you know your original is dead?
The only way these usually get messed up with normal use (from wearing out) with under 300k or probably even a good bit higher than that, is by someone messing up a delivery valve o-ring job. I'd make sure your mechanic properly diagnosed your problem. Describe your symptoms if you haven't yet. (ok EDIT: sorry I just looked at your other threads). But I'm still always hesitant to believe that any mechanic who hasn't worked regularly or at least a good amount on 60x engine injection pumps even has a clue about the torque specs of the delivery valves. I would ask whoever it was who worked on your o-rings. Put them on the spot and make them tell you what torques they set the D.V.s at. If it wasn't 22 -loosen- 22 -loosen- 26 lb.ft (or 30-30-35 Nm). I would hold them accountable for the repair and for the cost of a replacement IP. Before I knew anything about the sensitivity of these IP's an import diesel shop (mostly VW diesel, and lots of MB) ruined mine. They didn't pay for it. I knew they ruined it but I had no idea why or how to argue or prove that they did. Now I know... I really would quiz your mechanic. Just because they are a good mechanic and can fix most diesel problems doesn't mean they read the directions (very specific) on how to change Delivery Valve O-rings. Food for thought... at our MB dealership, only ONE tech (a 60 something year old experienced and sharp guy) is allowed to do work on delivery valve o-rings. He said others have tried it and he's been the only one so far to get the job done with a running car at the end.

The pump actually has 2 holes in the bottom of it.

Something that's always confused me is the price of re-builds on things like IP's. I wonder if it's anything like an auto tranny rebuild where they charge you $1200 to do it but in reality, it's not that difficult a job and the price is high because everyone is intimidated by the presumed complexity of it.
Once you have some training is it all that hard or are the shops trying to pay off all the expensive test equipment they bought to do the job? I'm not opposed to a place making a profit but sometimes it's excessive...

Cost of Test Equipment.....
I don't know offhand what a "new" FI Calibration/Test bench costs, but it seems to me that I heard $35,000 for a used one.......a good shop will have several......
After I retired I took a job as a FI Tech at a Bosch Shop in Florida. There is a huge overhead in that business......I would highly recommend that any of y'all who are interested, visit a FI Shop and ask the counterperson if you can have the $5.00 tour.....a good shop will have a good inventory of FI Pumps and Injectors.....a lot of shops also do Turbochargers..... I will try and get some pics on here, but i never have any luck with that, but it looks like some type of ball bearing broke loose on the inside and put 2 holes clean through the housing. I say ball bearings cause 1 is still lodged in one of the holes.

Wow! Someone sold that! That's amazing! Are you able to get your money back?
What about your original IP? What is the status on that? I think I'd read that you weren't getting fuel on two Delivery Valves. Was this before or after the O-rings were changed or both?

I am still waiting to hear abut the status of a refund. The initial response was it came off of a working car.
As for the fuel delivery, it was both before and after. I am taking my old pump to see about having it rebuilt.
