EGR pipe broke

ok so i did remove my egr valve and i have place a stopper to choke the egr pipe, so today i was driving and all of a sudden i loss power and my car was louder than it was, so i pull over and thinking that my turbo was TOAST . but insted it was the pipe, it broke half way of the pipe vertically and the upper part was held by a thin line of metal!!! imagin what damage would have caused if that went loose !!! and the power was like driving a 240D 0-60 in forever. anyways i used a giant vise grip and clam that up placed some quicksteel and its good as new...

The paint is cured on my 1979 300TD manifold.
Maybe this weekend I'll get to make the swap...

(Thanks again, Charlie.)

Thats why the plug goes on the port of the manifold, not the pipe.

With the pipe free in the air it will vibrate and break like it did with yours.

Just remove the pipe and plug it. A copper punch out and a little high temp gasket material works perfectly.

Or order one of Brians kits.

I wonder if you could use a half dollar or maybe an old 5 mark piece.

You need something soft like the copper to help form a seal.
