Started coolant flush tonight...
So, I started with the citric flush protocol tonight...trying to get all finished before sun-up!
I'm taking a break, while getting my kids ready for bed. A few thoughts... The block plug was a BEAR to get loose...no good way to get leverage, and it took me nearly an hourly to turn it. Once I did, I had the lovely surprise of warm coolant right in my face, all over my driveway, and a LITTLE bit in my bucket. Sheesh... Going back out to fill back with water and flush a few times, before running the degreaser mixture through. I'll report back throughout, as I need more breaks to recover! Be right back...

If you got it and think your kids would donate it, I found that one of those cheap plastic wading pools (we had one that was done for - placed under the area catches it all. Of course, too late now. The nastiest part is done.

I started my flush on a 86 SDL. Removed the block drain and flushed with water and de greaser(DAWN). No rust or muck has come out, should I use the citric acid step? Shawn

I could see the rust in the T-stat housing and white scale in the radiator which is why I did it in the 240D. If you are not having cooling problems and you don't see extreme rust or deposits, I wouldn't. Unless you have nothing else to do with your day.
