Home stretch of rebuild... identify extra parts

engine rebuild is complete and the beast is back in the cage. Did you guys know the crankshaft pulley is supposed to be gray?

here is the extra part I have. It is not the Turbo support but could be used in that area, just couldn't figure out where. This is a California vehicle.

Also what is the device on your turbo outlet? I’m not familiar with CA engines.

that is the catalytic converter.. or trap catalyst / trap cat in these parts.

this why I rebuilt:

Prelude to crank rebuild / replace

it only looks virgin cuz I cleaned for a week and a half

Do you have any threads that detail what you have done on your rebuild and how much you have into it?

search : wwjd if he had is 617.952 out of the bay.

that was my rebuild insight thread. I haven't had time to post all the little details, gaskets, bolts etc.

i basically rebuilt the bottom end and replaced whatever gaskets I opened up. Repalced some rails, all bearings, seals

plus the head came off for valve seals, and thorough cleaning / inspection.

It's got to be some turbo/trap ox/exhaust support bracket...

Brace

It may be an additional brace for the turbo. I didn't even know mine was missing until I found a "complete" one at Windsor Pick and Pull. It goes between the points in your #3 picture that I have marked with a red arrow. I bought the one at P&P and installed it in my '85. It fit with a little wiggling and was especially good for me to have since my car has a "test pipe" instead of a trap cat and is missing the lower trap cat support brace (as well as being 7 pounds lighter).

Just tried it there.. it does not fit. What gives? How recently have you seen this setup? Thanks, I will try again.

If that bracket has a smaller hole, it goes to the other side of the trap cat. It is attached to one of the three bolts of the exhaust manifold and trap flange. Im not sure but the upgraded traps dont have that bracket. I dont remmber where the other end of the bracket attaches.
