How much can you adjust the steering box on a 240D?

I adjusted the allen bolt 3/4 of a turn, and it took out 50% of the play in the steering wheel. The shaft from the steering wheel to the box still has some play, so I'd like to address that before I start replacing suspension parts.
If I pull a box out of the junkyard, how much would a shop charge to rebuild it?

Thanks,

Otto

Don't adjust a worn box too far or it can jam in tight turns.

You would have to call around and get some quotes.

What's too far, 1 1/2 - 2 turns?

Thanks,

Otto
