82 to 84 cruise amp compatibility

Anyone know if a CC amp from an 82 300 TD wagon will work in an 84 300D? Part numbers are different on the alum. box and the box is slighter shorter on the '82 but connectors are the same. Can't find anything conclusive in a search on this issue.

'82 P/N is 001 545 79 32

'84 P/N is 002 545 91 32

Don't want to risk frying this '82 CC amp that a friend wants to sell me - or frying something on my '84 300D.

Won't work, two different systems. The '84 takes it's signal from the transmission, and does not use the external amp.
You'll note the shorter cap is empty, vs. the tall one that encloses the amp.

Thanks - you no doubt saved me some grief. I'll just see about re-soldering mine and if that doesn't work, exchanging it for a rebuilt one.

For your '84?
I don't know how to trouble shoot that one.
