I did this mod per Darren's instructions and find myself using the fogs as a DRL or "citylight." I like the added flexibility. Fog is only a factor a few days a year here, so I don't typically use them for their intended purpose.

Step Seven addition

When putting the fusebox back into it's location per step seven, screw the cover lugs back into the fusebox for purchase.

The small washer and nut can be started easily without the box falling back into the cabin.

Good write-up and pictures.

Thanks,

Jay

Does anyone know the bulb number for the map lights? I'd like to put them in my Bosch Euros.
After a few months of having city lights on during dusk/dawn drives I realized these map light bulbs burn out faster than the standard bulbs for city light usage.

Has anyone check for differences on the W126 from this write up?

nice writeup. i too like to be able to use whatever functionality at my leisure, but since i live in southern california, and it hardly ever gets foggy here, i put white bulbs in all my euro lights, and keep them on at all times when my low beams are on, to essentially multiply my light output by, say, 1.5. so this mod wouldn't be useful to me, but if i lived in san fransisco, it'd be a different story
