In Oregon to get antique auto plates the car must be older than 1956. I guess they're strict hear about what you can call an antique auto.

I have registered my 1979 300D as a "Historic Vehicle" in Arizona. The only requirement is that the car be over 25 years old. It's $10/year and it gets you a much better looking plate that is still actually stamped from metal, where new standard plates are printed or something. No other difference, and no limits on mileage or anything.
The state also offers Classic Car plates. These are different, you can only get these if your cars is listed as a classic by the Classic Car Club of America. I understand that you also have to have Classic Car insurance which comes with a host of requirements and mileage limits, though it also will be more likely to cover the actual value of your vehicle. |

My original 300SD plates were blue/yellow California 240 VPP. I would like to get the black ones with the original numbers....

WTF is that ^
My 83 is eligible for them here in WA soon, but they put mileage restrictions on how much you can drive them per year. Since it sees DD use, I don't think I'll be able to do it.... I'm assuming if you get pulled over they will ask about it.

Hmm... looks like you're right. "Owned and operated as collector vehicle" seems pretty vague.
WA State Licensing: Collector Vehicle license plates
