What sort of odd engine is this?
Was browsing eBay Germany (window-shopping, of course) and came across a 2nd generation w126 that claims to be a diesel - all the trunk badges are gone.
I've never seen anything that looked even remotely like the engine in this thing. It's listed as a "300SE with a diesel" so I have no idea if it's even the original engine or not. Looks like it sort of might be trying to be a 603, but the intake is strange. http://cgi.ebay.de/DB-W126-300-SE-Diesel-EURO2-S-Klasse-und-Diesel_W0QQitemZ200251258561QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200251258561&_trkparms=72%3A823%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Here's a picture copied straight from the auction: |

Looks like a non-turbo 603 with SLS to me.

Its a NA 603, a few of those made it to this country in 300D's.
The diesel W126 was never sold in Europe, NA model only. Thats the super base cloth interior.

Euro models used it, thats not the first non-turbo 603 I've seen with a head mounted pump.

The engine may have been pulled from a W124 that had SLS. Before I got my SDL I looked at a W124 with that engine that had rear SLS.

That looks like a really nice car! Engine is kinda cramped looking in there though....I like all the room you have with a 617!
