Trunk lock on 210

This is a 1997 E300D. The trunk locking mechanism has a serious vacumn leak. I can hear the air rushing out whenever I activate it. I wanted to take the thing out and inspect it to see if there was something I could repair or replace if necessary. The problem is that I can't get it out of the hole to take a good look at it. I have tried twisting and turning the thing in every possible way and still can't get it out through the hole on the inside of the trunk lid. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Don't know if this will help, since I haven't physically looked at my trunk lock, but here's the relevant page from the DVD manual. Note that locks may have changed (NFI) after Feb 1997.

I think this is going to be real helpful. I'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks,
