Intake seal rings

Just wanted to pass along a tip. While replacing my air cleaner mounts I noticed that my lower intake seal ring was cracked. Ordered new seal rings and replaced them yesterday. I first lubricated the new seal rings with clean motor oil. As hard as I tried I couldn't get the upper part of the U-tube to attach to the air cleaner housing. I tried installing it on the air cleaner but it seemed like the diameter was to large and i couldn't get the U-tube over the seal. I tried installing it in the U-tube but i couldn't push it far enough onto the air cleaner(wouldnt make it over the little hump). The key to doing this is to remove the air cleaner housing. Point the housing with the throat facing up and push the u tube down onto the air cleaner throat(seal ring installed in (u-tube). You can get alot more leverage this way. The lower part of the U-tube easily slides onto the turbo. Hope this helps.

Diesel Giant also has an easy way to install that also.

Good info you gave, as it's always helpful to have back-up plans.

When I installed my seal ring in the U tube I degreased the tube and outside of the ring and coated it with Silicone Sealant which when cured glued it to the U tube and keeps it from moving. I lubed the Turbo charger lip with STP and slide it over.
