Quick LCA installation question

Call me a dumba$$ if you must, but I want to make sure I do it right. I am in the process of installing my LCAs with new strut rod bushings. I am a little confused on the process of lining up the strut rod with the lca bushings. From how I am guessing, I need to keep the tightener loose on the strut rod, and try to fit it up. Take it down, turn a thread or two, then put it back up. I am guessing the best I can do is line the lca bushing up as close to straight fit in their fittings.

I lined up the new strut rod bushing with the same number of threads as the old one, but I have tightened like 5 threads from there, I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

Is the new strut rod bushing suppossed to be turned for adjustment after it is bolted in? My old one (which was very worn out) turned easily, but the new one doesn't. I haven't pushed it, because I don't want to screw wanything up.

I also noticed that the online manual info page is not available anymore. Does anybody know if it moved, or is it just gone?

I'm not sure I follow, the LCA bushing is totally seperate from the guide rod. Once you match the guide rod/mount to the legnth that the old one was you don't want to mess with it much so you can safely drive it to the alignment shop. Here is how I did it. http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W123FrontSuspension

OK, I didn't find that write up before. Thanks, it helps me realize a few things I forgot.

Given the point of this thread, the one thing I didn't do is take the length of the guide rod with the old mount. DOH!!! I counted and lined up threads on the bushing, but it doesn't seem to be working.

When you put the guide rod back in place before bolting it in place, was it lined up for easy installation? I think that's the best way for me to get it installed now.

One lined up, one did not. I had to shorten one several turns to get it in, then I re-adjusted it to the correct legnth.

Access to the pauldrayton mercedes site no longer exist. There is a separate Thread on why. Time to buy a Factory Manual CD if you do not have one.
