Does B99 smell good?
 

I was on the bike today behind an older SD. He had a bio something sticker on the bumper. I had to turn to get where I was going or I'd
a chased him down to the next light to ask what he was burning.
I was going to get a tank of bio the other day, but it was a buck more
than #2. If the price gets lower I'm gonna get a tank just to clean things out. Well..does it smell good:D? The exhaust I mean. Was that guy burning french fry oil? It smelled a bit like Blendzall. That oil we put in our 2-stroke flat trackers a thousand years ago. I always liked that smell.

it smells like singed whatever kind of oil. Use french fry grease, and it'll smell like singeld french fry grease. The commercial stuff I burn is made from virgin canola oil.. so it smells like a hot wok. I find the D#2 smell pretty much drowns out the bioD smell until I blend upwards of B70. At B99, it smells like someone cooking dinner. I even had someone's dog get keen on the smell as I drove by once :) It was probably hungry because it was just before dinner time.

I think it smells pretty bad, like a truck stop mcdonalds parking lot. I burn WVO and I wouldnt want to behind the car at 80 mph. Ofcourse #2 is no rose garden either. I was kinda hoping it would smell better, but I guess regurgitated Chick Filla burned thru a 300k mile diesel engine probably wouldnt smell all that appetizing...

I use commercially prepared B99 maybe 1 out of 10 tankfuls.

EVERY time I use it and pull into the garage to park with my daughter in the car when she gets out she immediately knows I filled up with Bio that day. She says it smells like the 275lb halibut we saw hanging on a hook in front of a fishing guide shack in Homer, Alaska.

My sense of smell isnt so good, so I don't argue.

It smells a lot better than D2, in fact I am here today because of it. My wife complained about the "diesel smell" of my yard tractor until I tried biodiesel (we are fortunate to have several suppliers here). That was a success so we tried a diesel car and now have three!

We use straight biodiesel in the wagon's main tank, and it smells just like we're burning the WVO in the VO tank...can't really tell the difference. I haven't really taken notice to different blends, this winter when I start cutting it with diesel, I'll have to pay attention.

I use B99 year round. It smells like play-dough straight from the pump. When it burns it smells a bit like food, but also kind of burnt smelling. I will say my car smokes a lot less than when it was burning dino diesel. I sure wish it wasn't so expensive (I buy mine from a petroleum oil company), but I figure I am still paying substantially less for fuel each month than everyone else with their gassers.

The bus fleet in this college town burns university-brewed biodiesel, and they smell like something dying in a landfill when they blast past you on the road. I'd be the first to admit that oil quality probably isn't their foremost concern... I think I'd rather smell the commonly cited used up differential oil being burned, than whatever the stuff they're using for bio-d is.

#2 smells good to me, sort of sweet and very pleasant. I may be biased because I like the smell of #2, idk. The bio I smell around here burning definitely doesn't smell like delicious cooking french fries. More like slowly rotting ones.

I kind of like the smell of D2.....and emissions from B99 or B20 does not smell bad but it smells like hot fryer oil.....or warm salid dressing oil. Whatever it smells like it is not as toxic smelling as gasoline emissions.;)
