Bushings in the Shifter Rod

Greetings forum goers,
TLBS here again for the daily dose of education. Some of you fine people have aided me in diagnosing several issues with my car, the current one being the neutral safety switch. Switch located, removed from parts car the Martyr and ready for install on the daily driver, Quirky.

While working between the cars, I noticed that the bushings located near the rear of the car that the end of the shifter rod connects to are gone, and thus the subsequent "play" in the rod.

Can any of you steer me in the right direction of do-it-yourself or must I visit the dealer? I'd like to replace the bushing myself and if I can take them from the parts car, I'd like to. The lever just under the floor of the car that the rod connects to and that houses the bushing does not appear to be able to be removed.

Any help that you can offer is appreciated.

If I understand your question, there is a plastic bushing that surrounds the linkage rods. On the one I replaced, there is a clip that holds the two together, remove that, separate 'em, install the new bushing, (they're cheap) reinstall the clip.
I found it easier to have the shift lever in low, so as to send the part I needed to get to, towards the front of the car.
I did trim off part of the new bushing, as I don't have that particular tool, so far, so good.

Here is a detailed thread:

I was able to get both bushings in with regular tools. Nothing special required.
