1987 300SDL Clunk
My 87 300SDL makes a clunk... especially in rear end....
Worsens with bumps in road. Could it be shocks? Thanks |

More likely its the sway bar links....cheap and easy to replace, they are on each wheel assembly and look like this:
$12.38 each on fastlane and you will need two of them. If the shocks are real old they might also be shot, but usually the clunking comes from worn links.

Thanks
Whats the best way to tell they are worn? A mechanic told me a while ago that the sway bars themselves are shot but i didn't listen because after i was told he had a tendency to lie about things.... Was he possibly talking about this? |

It could be a lot of things, but those links are a good start.

Their right behind the rear wheels, coming off the sway bar. I forget their size, maybe what 7 inch's?
