60X valve cover oil separator.

Has anyone with oil in the intake (rubber elbow feeding the compressor of the turbo) ever taken the oil separator out of the valve cover and put in a new spring, or made any repairs, to any success? I saw a mechanical drawing of the mechanism and thought that could likely be an 'oil in the intake' cause. IF the turbo seals leak would it not stand to reason that the compressor outlet be where we see the oil, hence...

That just might be crazy enough to work.

Where do you go with the drain?

Could be plumbed back to the oil pan?

Easiest would be with a positive cut off valve and occassionally drain in to the pan with the engine off.

Or it could go through a check valve - wait, I think MB already thought of that?

On a 617 it's a much less complicated affair. 60Xs use a spring loaded valve mechanism built into the valve cover. It feeds vapor (if functioning properly) into the intake elbow just upstream of the compressor. My hypothesis is - instead of buying a new valve cover (or gilding a lily and 'rebuilding' the stock one) install an oil separator between the intake elbow and vent tube thus helping keep the intake that much cleaner and cooler. *My EGR has seized shut - or something - and I'm noting the vent to elbow tube is damp with liquid oil.*
