617 ac compressor Nippendenso or R4

Was the Nippendenso compressor ever used on a 617? I'm putting the 617 from my 300SD in a 420SEL, would like to retain the Nippendenso as it's a good ,working compressor, whereas the R4 in my SD has not worked for years and would need replaced. I know I can make a bracket to hold the Nippendenso, but would be much easier to get a factory mount if it was ever made. Thanks.

Nope. Only York or the GM R4.

York is big and clunky it will never fit in the R4 location. If you have one or the other and you have a choice between the two, keep the original type. Also, run R12 refrigerant and you'll be fine.

The euro w123 300D's have something different than the York or R4 compressor. Not sure which brand though.

I believe the euros came with Sanden SD5 Compressors.
