pawoSD - so you are saying that there are only four bulbs to replace and I caught them all? I thought maybe a fifth bulb handled the shifter, sliders, etc. - those that are still dim. The others are now surprisingly bright but I have six 1.2 w bulbs left over. Thought that I read somewhere that the 81 300SD took ten bulbs; cannot find the rest of them.

The low wattage bulbs can be found in:
-Fuel low warning light -two for instrument cluster prisms -glow plugs light -parking brake light -seat belt light -brake pads light -high beam light -fiber optic spider light -four bulbs in the back of the climate control Thats 13 of the 1.2 watt bulbs if you count everything. In the section of the dash with the radio, switches, and shifter, there are only 5. It is indeed only one bulb that does all the sliders, shifter, and switches...that single bulb runs the fiber optic spider, so those things aren't lit quite as brightly. The battery/alternator light is 3 watts.... Hope this helps.

2 watt bulb 4B100-138129

This same bulb is used to light up the ashtray. A lot of folks don't realize there is an ashtray light because they are mostly burnt out and you can't see the bulb. Pull the ashtray out and remove the screws that hold the assembly together and take it apart carefully. You'll see the bub clipped behind the lighter socket. When it works the ashtray and lighter well light up from the inside. Some other popular Mercedes parts sites also carry the bulb. |
