300d turbo dash pod & other questions
i have taken my maiden voyage with my 83, 300d tonite. went to the fuel station and filled. . . gage only registered about 1/4 tank.
tach does not work at all shifting points are wierd as can be. but they all work. seems to be a bad lag in the throttle operation none of the door locks operate with the vacuum system i know there are more but this is q few nites worth of tests if i knew what to / where to start. i have an extra dash pod but its been canibalized a bit, i think for the speedometer gear. HELP PLEASE ? anyone have ideas or starting points ? davidh (the old guy)

tach does not work at all - Who's does? It's a really common thing for it to not work. It is usually the tach amp on the driver's fender well. Sometime sitting some thing on the inside of the cap will make it work for a while.
shifting points are wierd as can be. but they all work. - The bowden cable will adjust the shift points. It's attached to the linkages on the top of the valve cover. It adjusts the RPM at which the trans will shift. Probably needs to be adjusted up. seems to be a bad lag in the throttle operation There is a banjo bolt on the back of the intake manifold that goes to the injection pump. It gets full of carbon. Clean it out and reinstall. That will probably help. It could also need fuel filters and a valve adjustment. none of the door locks operate with the vacuum system Time to buy a mity vac. You have a leak in the system somewhere and you'll need to track it down. You'll want to start with the main vac line in the engine bay and work your way through each system.
