With a 617 from a TD it would be very easy. The OM617 is almost the same length as the M110 so the amount of adjustment (to the shift rods and driveshaft) would be minimal, if any at all.

It would be far easier than an auto-manual conversion or 616-617 swap.

It's been for sale for the past two months. I spoke with a forum member (can't remember who) who had inspected this car too, and he said the condition made it look more like a 100k mile car. It's in that good condition body-wise and interior-wise.

He even went so far to say that he's seen euros where the guage cluster was incorrectly replaced - i.e. they took out the cluster with 100,000 kilometers on it and replaced with a US version that had 100,000 miles on it. This wagon's condition was good enough to imply that was possible here too.

Go get it daw!!!

You could finally be in the wagon club ... and be at the top of the bragging rights list.

I'd run it as is until the engine dies or requires a pricey repair and then swap the diesel in.

Okay, I don't know how this wagon would put me at the top of the BRL. Please explain.

Of course, you know, if I bought it, then I would need to go pull that 617 diesel engine out of that 82 300TD ---- oh, and then there is the storage issue. WHERE would I keep the engine??? In the middle of my living room??? Nice conversation piece, huh.

1. Beautiful green interior, Euro model with the cool bumpers, rare cargo cover, RARE manual transmission ... and a peppy 280 motor until you do the swap.

2. Sometimes the best hiding spot is in plain view. That TD motor could be a fantastic table base. Just set a wood or glass top on it.

That IS cool looking, Chad. Where'd you find that picture? That's not yours, is it?

Nope. Not mine. I did a google search and came across it. I also believe TheDon posted one awhile back.

If I bought a 280 I think the last thing on my list would be to swap in the slower diesel, especially if the 280 was in good running shape! I'd enjoy the power and speed!
