Hey, it's the same color as my fuel filter when I get pump Biodiesel. And no, it's an awesome interior and car. If I was in the market I would be on a flight tomorrow to pick it up, it's my favorite everything, except engine.

Come on Andrew. It's like a 1970's kitchen ... AWESOME AVOCADO.
The only thing that would make it better is if the exterior color was the same as the interior. I already have a diesel wagon, so it would be cool to have a peppy 280.

I investigated that car a few months ago. My problem with it wasn't the color (odd, huh?), but the 200k miles. I always chase low-mileage cars, preferably one-owner. I just couldn't get over the 200k thing - I really want one with under 100k, but the more I drive my '82 diesel, the more I like it. I'd prefer the faster 280 wagon, but one in the hand, two in the bush...

I like it! No info if it's a four or five speed however. If I didn't buy a house last year I'd be on it as my third car.

Maybe so, but a stock condition Euro spec 280TE manual gasser wagon is also the fastest W123 wagon you could get, hands down And they are very very rare in this country Think about that.

Yeah, its an awesome engine. I've been in an auto 280te......it moved like no other!!! Effortlessly rocketed to about 120.
I too would buy that wagon in an instant if I had the $$. A 280 manual! That'd be a blast!

I've seen 6 of them in the yards here- not as common as the diesel wagons in the yards, but close.

Wow do I like that wagon. That interior made my pants hop up and run around the room! And it has the elusive retractable screen thing to boot!
Alas, I'm in the Cheap Wagon Club for a reason...... BTW, in the back of the wagon, is there some sort of coverings on the sides of the rear cargo area? If so, was that an option? Something I've never heard of. That price is pretty fair if there is no rust and everything works.

Nice but 200k is a lot of miles for a g@sser.
$3000 for a 5-speed and a good body would be well worth it. |

Would a trans from a 280TE match up with a 617?
Maybe the 280 could be driven into the ground and then swap in a 617 and have a manual diesel with a green interior.

Cool. If POS checked this out months ago, maybe the owner would take $2k or less.

guys ---- may I??
Okay, someone tell me just how EASY (or HARD) it is to drop a 617 into this car? I've got access to a 617 engine (from a 300TD even) that has about 185K miles on it. I know the engine was running really good at the time the car got disabled because of the size of the SMASH on the front passenger fender. The one thing I do NOT like about the 617 here is that the previous owner was running straight vegetable oil in it.
I could easily drive the GREEN mobile. It could become my "company car" even. Help me guys!!!! Jimmy, you know how bad I want a wagon.
