About to remove dash to replace those dreaded actuators

How many are there to replace - and who is best to get them ?
Ran thru all the obvious doors and boot lid ( all is sound now after a fuel door replacement ) so has to be the underdash ones -

What is the specific problem? These pods have nothing to do with the door locks.

If they are leaking, then they can affect the door locks and the rest of the vacuum system.

Specific problem - the engine will not shut off - replaced the IP shut off valve and 2 door lock actuators - as these were suspect - car still does not shut off - hand held vacuum pump directly to Shut off valve shuts off motor
I have 19 Lbs vacuum coming from vacuum pump - so I figure if everything inside bonnet vacuum line wise checks out - and doors/ boot/ fuel door are all checked and replaced - has to be dash vacuum elements - as car is now 24 years old - and has lived in hot sunny place closed up / not really breathing

Your doing a lot of work before you have to. Disconnect the yellow and green based lines going thru the fire wall. Plug the lines. Does it shut off now, quickly??. If so then it could be a leak. If not then look at the ignition switch. It may not be working.

Guys - tell me if I am wrong, but I thought the pods only controlled the opening/closing of the dash vents for AC, defrost, etc. I do not think they have anything to do with the car shutting off or the transmission shifting. Am I wrong? Let me think outloud - perhaps you are saying that the pods are connected not to the door lock pump but the vac pump for the engine; therefore leak in the actuators would affect the way the engine shuts down. Makes sense.

Good job I paid attention to words of wisdom - I plugged the two thick yellow lines ( on my 84 they are attached to a dashpot then go off into the firewall - plugged them with the dashpot and plugged the line /4 way tee where they plug - car now shuts off

what do you think ?

As his would say to me the ignition switch is working - and I was certain I had all the doors settled - why I looked to the dash as the culprit

Sounds like you have a leaking door lock actuator.
Or, a leaking connection somewhere in that circuit, anyway.

already replaced 2 door actuators - fuel door was one culprit
all others check out - including boot lock - which was problem last time

why i felt it was in the dash

So it has been mentioned - I just dig that the Sumerians wrote / spoke of a 12 th planet in our solar system - and only now have they acknowledged this is true - more interesting is the list of countries now sending up Radio Spectrometer telescope satellites - 4 this coming October alone - to keep an eye on this rogue 12th planet - all on the hush hush of course - no wide spread panic if you please
