Lock is out- How do I clean it's guts? (Till I get a new one)
Hey, folks, I finally got that trunk lock open (thanks especially to Chetwesley), but until I get one ordered and shipped in from who knows where, I'd like to get mine operable enough to close up that hole in the trunk where it belongs. Problem is, even out of it's home place, it doesn't want to turn (open). Are there any locksmiths or tinkerers-of-locks out there? I thought about soaking it in penetrating oil for a few days, but it's basically been doing that all week. Can any laymen open these up, or is it like a Swiss watch? no matter what, It's not doing me a bit of good as is, and I can't put it back on after what I just went through. No way! Local dealer only took 1 day to get me a new ign lock tumbler with a key ,if its that quick for you might not be worth fooling with the old one. Don
