Trans question

I would like to know if the trans in my '80 300SD would work in my '84 300CD, the SD has turned into a parts car but the CD is in good shape.

Does anyone know if it will bolt up and shift, it shifted fine in the 300SD? Maybe I will have to change the modulator valve and adjust it but that is no problem, who would know if this swap is possable?

If it is the 722.3xx then no problem, but you will need to use the tail housing from the CD's tranny for the speedo to work.
